Revenue Rehab: March Recap 2022

April 5, 2022 Tegrita

We are excited to launch the Revenue Rehab Podcast - it’s like therapy for marketers! The podcast helps Chief Marketing Officers and Chief Revenue Officers have conversations to develop solutions and takeaways to revenue team challenges. Last month we kicked off the show with distinguished leaders from various marketing backgrounds and engaged in insightful conversations. Our guests shared significant learnings and takeaways that you can implement right away. We have summarized our discussions below:

The Anti-Bias CMO

On The Anti-Bias CMO episode, our host Brandi was joined by MK Getler, CMO of Loop & Tie, to discuss how unconscious bias affects marketing today. MK and Brandi talked about how we sort humans by categories like gender, nationality, and ethnicity. They talked about how to stop doing this, especially in marketing. MK recommended an anti-bias committee to help with employer branding and marketing collateral. The committee would have people with different backgrounds and life experiences, to give broad perspectives. MK and Brandi also discussed how consumers, particularly Gen Z and millennials, are catching on to "performative brands." These are companies that say they care about their mission and values but don't act like it. The key takeaways MK recommends to any organization or marketing leader are:

  • Include inclusive language in their collateral.
  • Align the organization's mission and values with its actions.
  • Acknowledge that identifying and overcoming biases is a lifelong journey.

Ladylike in the Conference Room

In the Ladylike in the Conference Room, Brandi spoke with Andrea Lechner-Becker about authenticity in the workplace. Andrea and Brandi discussed how women and other feminine-presenting people, in particular, can face more difficult barriers when bringing their authentic selves to work. Andrea tells what it was like being the only woman on all-male teams. She says being aware of herself helped her overcome feeling left out and doubting herself. Andrea also opened up about the importance of sponsorship to make allies in the workplace. This sponsorship is particularly necessary for women, minorities, and underrepresented groups within the workforce. Andrea's advice is to listen to your body. It tells you what you want and how to control your emotions. Want to learn more about this topic? Feel free to check out the full episode here.

We hope we tackled topics that matter to you and brought actionable items to support you on your journey. Check out the Revenue Rehab website if you'd like to learn more about our show.
